General Tso’s Chicken

General Tso’s Chicken is a popular Chinese dish that originated in Taiwan. It is made by deep-frying pieces of chicken that are coated in a batter made of cornstarch, flour, egg, and soy sauce. The chicken is then stir-fried with a spicy and sweet sauce made from soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, garlic, and chili peppers. General Tso’s Chicken is typically garnished with green onions and sesame seeds and served with steamed rice. Despite its popularity in American Chinese cuisine, the dish is not commonly found in China. In fact, the dish is named after a Chinese military leader, General Tso, who was not known for his culinary skills. Nevertheless, General Tso’s Chicken has become a beloved and iconic dish in the United States and around the world.
